IIF-II Fund Management


The CSG team is comprised of investment professionals from Carlyle and AlpInvest, whereby Carlyle will source and manage direct investments including investments in real asset and credit strategies, and AlpInvest will make primary fund commitments and co-investments in Indiana based companies or in companies with a significant nexus to Indiana.

The team is comprised of senior investment professionals with first-hand knowledge of the Indiana market and local presence. The IIF-II program will be able to take advantage of the size, scale and diverse capabilities of CSG resources with a comprehensive approach to investment opportunities in the State of Indiana.



Michael Arpey

Michael W. Arpey is a Managing Director responsible for fund formation strategy, new investor products and coordination of investor relations. He is based in Washington, DC. Mr. Arpey was formerly a Managing Director of Credit Suisse in the Asset Management division. At Credit Suisse, he was the Co-head of the Customized Fund Investment Group within Private Equity in Alternative Investments. Mr. Arpey joined CSFB in November 2000 through the merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette where he was a Managing Director and Head of DLJ Merchant Banking's Customized Fund Investment Group. Prior to DLJ, Mr. Arpey worked at Prudential Global Asset Management as The Global Head of Private Equity where he was responsible for oversight of Prudential's global private equity activities and managed Prudential's fund investment group. Previously, Mr. Arpey was with the New York State Common Retirement Fund where he was Director of Alternative Investments and managed a $7 billion private equity portfolio. Prior to that, Mr. Arpey was General Counsel to the State Treasurer of Pennsylvania for five years. He was appointed by the State Treasurer as her designee to both the Pennsylvania Public School Employee Retirement System and the State Employee Retirement System. Mr. Arpey earned his B.A. from St. Lawrence University and his J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law.

Nadim Barakat

Nadim Barakat is a Managing Director in Corporate Private Equity. He is based in New York.

Mr. Barakat was formerly a Managing Director and the Chief Investment Officer of Credit Suisse's Customized Fund Investment Group. He led the group’s global investment activity across private equity and real assets, and managed a number of strategic separate accounts. Mr. Barakat joined Credit Suisse in 2000 through the merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette where he was in DLJ Merchant Banking’s Customized Fund Investment Group. Prior to DLJ, Mr. Barakat focused on private equity investments for NBK Capital and was in the Mergers and Acquisitions department of JP Morgan Chase.

Mr. Barakat earned his B.S. in systems engineering from the University of Virginia. Mr. Barakat holds Series 7 and 63 securities licenses with the U.S. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.


Rich is a Managing Director of AlpInvest Partners, is a member of its Investment Committee and is head of AlpInvest’s North American Co-Investments team. Rich joined AlpInvest in 2004 and has 15 years of related investment experience. Prior to joining AlpInvest, Rich worked in the Investment Banking Division of Citigroup Global Markets and he received a BA in Economics, summa cum laude, from Boston College. He represents AlpInvest Partners on several portfolio company boards as well as fund advisory boards.

ERIC Hanno

Eric is a Managing Director on AlpInvest's Fund Investments team where he is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing transactions primarily in North America. Eric rejoined AlpInvest Partners in 2015 from Partners Group where he led their US Buyout and Distressed primary activities and served on the Investment Committee. Previously, Eric was an associate at AlpInvest Partners and he started his career at Goldman Sachs. Eric is a CFA charterholder and received a BA in Finance & Computer Information Systems from Colorado State University, where he graduated as an honors scholar.

Richard Reynolds

Richard is a Vice President of AlpInvest's Co-Investments team, focusing on U.S. transactions and supporting the Indiana programs. He joined AlpInvest Partners in 2016 from Anthem, where he was a Director of Corporate Development. Previously he worked at Lake Capital and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Richard earned a BA in Economics from DePauw University.
